Māori Tourism venture brings waka back to Wellington
Three-years-ago Te Wharewaka o Pōneke in Wellington central started their waka tours and promoting the Māori culture. Workers say the response has been very positive, however being a Māori tourism company comes with its fair share of challenges. Whatitiri Te Wake from Te Karere, TVNZ with this report.

TUIA – Encounters 250 commemorated Aotearoa New Zealand’s Pacific voyaging heritage and was a national opportunity to hold honest conversations about the past, the present and how we navigate our shared future.
This video captures our waka tete Te Hononga and Te Taumata (canoes) welcoming to the TUIA 250 flotilla to Te Whanganui a Tara that includes waka haurua from Tahiti Fa’afaite.
